HISTORY

The Club known today as the Bendigo Bowls Club originated from the Sandhurst Bowling Club in 1870/71 changing its name to Bendigo in 1872. It is located in central Bendigo just a short walk through the picturesque Rosalind Park from Bendigo’s central business district.

The club was originally split into men’s and women’s clubs. In 1995 the club amalgamated both clubs to form the Bendigo Bowls Club Inc.

Bowlers have the luxury of having year-round access to four excellent grass greens for pennant, practice and social activities. Our outdoor facilities including a barbecue area, together with the excellent clubhouse, provide a wonderful venue for various community and corporate activities.

The club has a rich history of producing excellent bowlers who have won many state and national titles, Aaron Wilson being the most recent to win a national title and a Commonwealth gold medal.

The club being one of the oldest sporting clubs in Victoria will be celebrating it’s 150th anniversary in September 2022 2022 with a gala dinner and plenty of bowls activities. To keep up to date with the latest information on planning for this huge event please read the weekly newsletter.
